Butterfly chair

Butterfly chair, by Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy, Juan Kurchan & Antonio Bonet, 1938.

Edited successively by Pastoe / Artek, Knoll and Airborne.

The latter published it under the name “Fauteuil AA”, with a “316 L” marine stainless steel frame and cotton fabric.

According to Airborne: “Between about 1952 and 1970, the Airborne frame was in one piece, without sleeves. Between 1970 and today, AA structures are in 4 parts: a base, two ears and 4 sleeves. Since 2011, they have been engraved on the back of the AA base followed by the year of manufacture.

The presence of the sleeves and the absence of engraving means that we can confirm that the chair we are offering was produced by Airborne between 1970 and 2011.
