Modular “Victowand” shelf made of rosewood.
The shelf is very versatile and has two different fixing systems: it can either be screwed to the wall or fixed between the floor and ceiling. It can also be placed either against the wall or in the centre of a room as a double-sided room divider.
The auction houses Tajan in Paris and Dorotheum in Vienna attribute this shelf to Richard Neutra (1892 – 1970), an important Californian architect of Austrian descent.
It was produced under the name / “Victowand” (german) / “Victoplan” (french) by Victoria Möbel, Switzerland, from 1952 to 1968.
Bibliography: “Victoria Möbel”, Heinz Horat, 2020, p. 53.
The attribution to Richard Neutra can neither be confirmed nor refuted at the present time.
