Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret

LC4 lounge chair by Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret, limited edition for the 80s by Cassina. Signed and numbered on the chrome frame.

The chaise longue was originally presented at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929, and has been produced by Cassina since 1964. Usually with a black base, this chair with its two-tone base is a limited edition, dating from the 1980s.

To coincide with the exhibition devoted to Charlotte Perriand at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris in 2019, the interior of the Salon d’Automne has been completely reconstructed for the first time. In the photos from the exhibition, we can see that the leg of the chaise longue recreated for the occasion has exactly the same two colours as the present chair. In fact, these two colours are taken from Le Corbusier’s colour palette of 63 colours. Unless we’re mistaken, they must be “2023 pale ultramarine” and “32010 dark grey 31”.
