Eames RAR, “Lemon yellow”, first edition

Rare first edition of the RAR armchair by Ray & Charles Eames;

Produced by Herman Miller / Zenith Plastic between 1950 and 1954 in Gardena, California, manufacturer’s label under the seat.

First edition also called “Rope Edge due to the presence of rope at the edge of the fibreglass shell. Manufacturing process limited to the first edition, later abandoned;

Lemon yellow” in colour, the chair has developed a unique patina over 70 years. The fibreglass is particularly visible, but remains translucent as can be seen in the photos.

A rare piece of museum quality!
