CSS (Comprehensive Storage System) modular shelf / double-sided room divider designed by George Nelson in 1957.
Produced by Herman Miller between 1959 and 1973, distributed in Switzerland by the Fehlbaum company (Willi & Erika Fehlbaum, founders of Vitra).
With original catalogue, the shelf is dated 15 July 1971.
Very versatile, can be used in any room of the house; living room, bedroom or office. Fixed between the floor and the ceiling, the shelf can be installed either against a wall, or in the middle of a room as a double-sided room divider. See illustration photos in the original catalogue supplied.
Comprising 4 aluminium uprights, 11 shelves (6 shown in photo, 5 supplied as extras), 3 open compartments, a sliding-door storage unit and a bar/secretary with folding door.
